For those not familiar with The Days of Future Past arc; it was a very popular storyline in the history of the X-Men which was released in 1981. It concerns a future in which anti-mutant hysteria is rife and has resulted in mutants either being collected in camps or brutally murdered. In the alternate timeline, many fan favourite characters had already been written off including the original X-Men Cyclops, Iceman, Beast and Angel.
It appears that Bryan Singer, the man behind the original X-Men movie (1999), intends to use this storyline to tie up some of the awfully messy continuity problems that have plagued the X-Men franchise. If the film is done right, I genuinely think it could salvage the series. The director recently released an image via twitter of James McAvoy's Professor Xavier wheelchair next to Patrick Stewart's which implied that both of the actors will at least be featured. It is unlikely they will meet however, we may see some telepathic communication between the two incarnations if the comic is abided by.
Rumours are circulating that Halle Berry has confirmed that she will reappear as Storm having admitted she has signed contracts. Shadow and Act reported on Thursday that the actress stated that she was "probably 90% sure" that she would have a part in the movie. There is also speculation that we will see Nicholas Hoult's Beast considering he and Singer have recently collaborated on Jack the Giant Slayer (2013).
Thus far, the cast confirmed to appear are Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence. The movie is scheduled for a 2014 release and will begin shooting in April.
