Sin City (2005) was Robert Rodriguez's film adaptation of Frank Miller's incredibly popular comic book series. Since it's release, there have been questions regarding a sequel with the likes of Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie rumoured to have involvement. Yesterday, we were treated to a wonderful piece of casting news in that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing a new character created for the 2013 sequel.
I couldn't be happier with this announcement. JGL has been one of my favourite actors since I watched Mysterious Skin (2004) years ago. It's wonderful that's he's now such an established, popular actor.
There have also been rumours of late stating that, despite playing a large role in Nolan's recent DC film The Dark Knight Rises, Gordon-Levitt would star in their main rival's upcoming space flick (Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy). A publicist has since confirmed that, because of Joseph's role in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, he will not be appearing in any Marvel film in the near future.
